Updating agents/editors on publications

Post by damnation's delights » November 30th, 2012, 3:08 pm

Hi Nathan,
If a full novel or ss collection manuscript is being considered by an agent or editor (ie nothing agreed to or contracted yet), and the writer is continuing to get excerpts or individual stories of the manuscript published in periodicals (limited or non-exclusive rights), should the writer continually inform the agent or editor of these publications, or is it inconsequential and annoying?

Unless it's really major (e.g. The New Yorker) I wouldn't update.
