Submitting Trilogy One At A Time Or All Together?

Post by jlovett322 » September 26th, 2011, 8:43 am

I have written a three book fantasy adventure trilogy. Each of the books is about 500 pages long. I have finished the final edits to the first book. My question is: should I go ahead and submit this first manuscript to an agent for consideration or wait and send all THREE books to the agent/publisher at once?

You'll have to query just the first novel. An agent needs to be convinced of your writing abilities in the first book before going whole hog with a series. I would, however, mention in your query that you've already completed the drafts for the next two books. And I would find a critique partner to go through your ms before starting the query process. It helps to get a fresh perspective, and they'll be able to tell you if 500 pages is enough, or too much based on your plot.
