Addressing the query letter

Post by abc » September 12th, 2011, 3:25 pm

Hi Nathan!
Can you tell me, if an agent asks that queries be directed (by email) to her assistant, should one address the assistant (dear Mr. Smith) or the agent in the official query? Does it matter?

Thank you!

I'd address it to who you're actually querying. The assistant may be taking on clients as well, so if you want the agent as your agent then you address it to that agent.
