Plot Motivators

Post by curtis » March 4th, 2016, 7:44 pm

What is your favorite plot motivator? Persecution? Betrayal? Catastrophe? Vengeance? The urge for vengeance is obsessive. To write about revenge, the writer must portray the need for vengeance as an all-consuming aspiration that controls the actions of the protagonist. An excellent portrayal of the need for revenge can be found in Kill Bill, and the protagonist exacts brutal justice against her violent enemies one by one.

Do you like survival as a plot motivator? Survival as a plot motivator utilizes the fact that one character does not want to cooperate with another character. A story line that focuses on survival can be found in The Lord of the Flies. Essentially, a bitter rivalry develops between two boys who both want to be in charge.
