All You Need To Know About Line Editing

Post by longknife » January 14th, 2015, 3:31 pm

I found this to be a most informative article and wanted to share it with my fellow writers. Writing is fun. Editing is a chore. Maybe this will make it easier for us.

I found the article empty of signficant meaning. The essay's title doesn't match the essay itself, a firm assertion the essay doesn't realize. The essay "begs the question," assumes the conclusion and never supports the argument's claim basis, doesn't assert a signficant claim in the first place. Circular reasoning and fallacious expression do not complete an already flawed argument's claim. Not one iota of the essay entails what a writer needs to know about editing of any variety.

The writer also needs an editor savvy about the publication and editing fields espoused. Note that the term "copy editing" as constructed is the separate words used by journalism editors, for example. Prose editors prefer the compounded word "copyediting." That misapprehension alone is a strong signal the essay writer is unprofessional.

"Line editing" is a term invented by fan fiction writers who probably never studied editing. The term is a sound bite that sounds sexy though contains as much meaning as "wrote list."

If a writer enters the editing profession, she or he is best practice served by comprehensive grammar, rhetoric, and style study. If a writer wants meaningful publication and successful outcomes, likewise, she or he is best practice served by comprehensive study, though focused upon the conventions of the writer's genre.

I would not recommend the essay writer's editing services.
Spread the love of written word.
