Re: What author would you have dinner with/what would you ask?
Hands down, Dean Koontz. As for what I'd ask him, I don't have any burning questions. From his writing and from his many first person perspectives at the end of some of his books, as well as interviews... he seems like a very interesting guy who is incredibly intelligent, kind, witty, and sincere.

I read that one the other day while trying to determine where my story fit. He sounds like a perdy smart fella.

I'm such a dork. I rushed right over there and submitted three of my short stories. :-) Thanks for the link, Marilyn!

Re: Query Time Tourism again, just when you thought it was over
Yeah, I'm trying to avoid the sci-fi aspect of my book. It's MOSTLY fantasy. The time travel is done by magic not machine. And, because I'm a huge sci-fi dork, I decided to create my own time space continuum theory that has no bearing whatsoever in quantum physics. I'm a rebel like that.

Re: 'Fess Up
I can honestly say that I've done a lot of writing this week. Granted, none of it that productive for myself. I've been blogging, and helping with queries for people, a few side editing projects, sending a query letter here and there, and occasionally staring at my manuscript and going 'I hate you f...

Re: Getting Ahead of Yourself
Thanks, RLS. I did find a partner and he's a great writer so I hope the two of us can get our manuscripts whipped into shape together. It's amazing how you can't see issues of your own sometimes until someone points it out and you feel like a boob for not seeing it yourself.

Re: Now Accepting "Queries" (game)
Want to hear something depressing that I just realized while browsing Query Tracker? When searching specifically for an agent that reps Fantasy, I subtracted out the ones that don't take unsolicited queries. That left me 107. I only have 107 chances to make someone go 'huh. sounds interesting.' Unli...

Yay, I found a partner, so I edited my post.
Maybe we should ask Nathan to start another forum for this incase the thread gets burried?

Re: VISIONS (YA)
Don't fret it too much. Look at mine: http://forums.nathanbransford.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=597 I rewrote that sucker about two dozen times PLUS it's on Query Shark being mocked by the world. Although it can be frustrating to hash it out, having a good one can land that elusive agent. Okay, not...

Query Cycles
So, an agent recently posted that agents go in cycles. Sometimes all they do is read queries and look for something from the slush pile. Other times they ignore queries totally and work on submitted manuscripts, hash out contracts, meet with editors, etc. This is disheartening, but also enlightening...

Re: VISIONS (YA)
Dealing with the aftermath of the accident that claimed the lives of her brother and sister, Channing wishes that she were the one who were in the ground. And why not? She could have prevented the accident considering she had the vision of it happening months before hand, but she didn’t. Now, her f...

Re: Getting Ahead of Yourself
I was part of a writer's group here, but they eventually became so political and jealous and conniving... and truly only fed my fear of groups of people. That's any sort of people. Groups worry me. Eventually a leader rises to the top and everyone starts sychophanting around and people stop thinking...

Re: Urban Fantasy
Nah, Jaime, I'm good. I'm just annoyed that I sent my book out as fantasy and not urban fantasy to some agents that might have been interested in URBAN and not regular fantasy. Le sigh.
