Second book in genre not represented by agent
Hi Nathan, So I'm in a bit of a quandary. I just finished my second book (first came close to being published but ultimately was a no-go), and spoke to my agent recently. Agent loves the new book and is enthusiastic about representing it, but admits she is not familiar with the genre's market. Shoul...

Re: Have you ever gotten tired of reading your own novel?
I'm going through this right now. Waiting for editorial comments from my agent, and as I'm reading over my most recent draft I keep banging my head on the table "How did I send this to her? This sucks."
Sigh.

Re: When you discover your agent's just not that into you...
THANK YOU so much for this post. I'm in your exact position right now. Agent loved Book 1 but was unable to sell it, and I can already tell that he's not so thrilled about Book 2, which I still haven't finished yet but gave him a synopsis over the phone. I've been really rattled over this myself. I ...

Re: Ask Nathan

Does that mean that if I have other submissions out, I can't send my partial to this agent? She doesn't have an email address listed, so I don't really know what t...

Re: On pacing and introducing main characters
Thanks for your input. It's not the main plot, but I think I'm just at the point where I'm overanalyzing things now...

On pacing and introducing main characters
Hi everyone,
I'm working on tightening my novel...so my question is this: is 60 pages into the 400-page novel too late to introduce the third party of a love triangle?
Thanks!

Re: Share your opening sentence!
What's everyone's opinion on starting with a quote, especially if it's a controversial one and central to the novel's premise?

Re: Recommendations: How to Books on Fiction Writing
I really like Your First Novel by Ann Rittenberg and Laura Whitcomb - it's more comprehensive, but has some great chapters on revising sentences and how to make your manuscript sparkle.
