Re: Free or $.99 for Teaser Short Story
In case anybody is interested, I have decided, once the short story is ready for upload to offer it for free...This decision is based on several sites feedback, including this one concerning this subject. The successful writers who have responded indicated that a free give-away can potentially lead ...

Free or $.99 for Teaser Short Story
The question is whether it is a better marketing, promotion or advertising endeavor to place a short story (about 12,000 words) at all the download retailers at a cost of zero...The assumption is that by offering the story for free, it will encourage readers to familiarize themselves with my two mai...

Re: Powers-Sci Fi and Fantasy
Dear Shipple, One sort or type of power is not derived from science or birth, but by title. 1. Wizard=Many revere or respect or fear someone who has powers that can't be explained... 2. King=He has the power to end someone's existence... 3. Warrior=With a sword or some type of weapon, they can infli...

Hi Margo,
Congrats as well...I'd be curious as to how you marketed your writing endeavors with specific concentration on all things internet. Hope you get another 60,000 and beyond...

Re: J.K. Rowling's new book - The Casual Vacancy
My feelings are that this type of art is much easier and less expensive to create than cover art for sci-fi, action-adventure et al. But I do agree that this book was to be "not Harry Potter" and for good reasons. Just my two cents (inflation my take even that away) but I feel that Rowling...

Re: Major Blunder with New E-Book
While I ponder splitting the story up, I wonder if it is the publishing world and those who abide by centuries old writing concepts that holds back the writer who wants to do something out of the norm. There may be wisdom in a serial, but that is not what this particular author had in mind. Those th...

Re: Where have all the Review Bloggers gone?
To those of you who responded who are bloggers, do you have the fan base to exclude indie writers? Would it not be appealing to the blogger with little blog traffic to entice all of the authors who are being turned down by more successful bloggers to a blog site that caters to them? Just a thought...

Where have all the Review Bloggers gone?
As some of you may know, recently I posted my first e-book on Amazon. Following what other authors have done and suggested doing, I have attempted to have reviews of my new e-book contemplated by as many review blogs, sites, forums, etc...as possible. In my search for these places, I have noticed a ...

Re: How do you like to use Goodreads?
Have you seen any activity at your blog? Though many successful recent indie authors have blogs, I wonder if it is worth the effort. Many review bloggers have closed their blogs to new reviews or closed the blog all together.

Re: Fixing Book Rankings
It seems as though there are several topics within this particular post. 1. Whether a seller should manipulate its own top 100 list... 2. Whether it is ethical to do so, whether in favor of an author or not... 3. Whether what is represented on the top "whatever" list is appropriate for all...

Re: Major Blunder with New E-Book
Hi to all replied to this post... I am very thankful for each of your responses and have to come to terms with the reality of the situation of having e-published a rather long story. There may yet be a reason to make this a serial, but why can't a reader just do that on their own? For the record, I ...

Major Blunder with New E-Book
Over the years, I have been visiting this author blog and forum of Nathan Bransford reading, enjoying and hopefully learning a few things about the world of publishing. However, after 6 years and literally concentrating (like everyone else) all my time on my Epic Tale, I think I may have made a mist...
