UPDATE: Found someone!! Seeking CP for 90K YA Fantasy

UPDATE: no longer looking for a CP. Hello everyone! I have a 90K YA fantasy and I'm looking for a critque partner. My book is not a first draft and it has already gone through a round of comments from other writers. I like harsh comments and critques, and I give the same back (though I am nice and w...

Thank you to everyone for the great feedback! I've got a clearer idea of what needs to be done now, so thank you all!

What's the Best and Worst Feedback You've Ever Gotten?

I talked about getting negative feedback in a recent post on my blog, and it got me thinking... what's the BEST feedback you've ever gotten? That piece of feedback which still makes you giddy when you think about it? What's the worst? I'll start. The best is when someone told me my book made them cr...

Re: 'The Eyes Have It' (YA?) urban fantasy query - Revised

Here is my revised query with more details. Let me know if this entices you enough (moreso than the last one)... The meat of it is 252 words - only two more than Query Shark recommends. Thanks. Dear (agent name here): Sixteen-year-old Paul Timmins does not expect to start seeing things with his new...

Re: QUERY: MG Science fiction - 12 o'clock - Revised

Here's the revised version! Again, I'm so grateful for any help. Dear (Agent) Twelve-year old Tory Fletcher is not a hero. She’s grown up in a quiet English village and she’s spent most of her life in a state of boredom. But she’s the last remaining free member of the family who brought in the Guard...

Thank you for your feedback! I'll definitely go about making those changes!

Regarding the spelling mistakes... I can't see any! Would you mind pointing them out?

QUERY: MG Science fiction - 12 o'clock - Revised

EDIT: Revised version posted in the replies! Okay, so I'm REALLY bad at queries. Any help that anyone can give would be much appreciated! Dear (agent) Twelve year old Tory Fletcher’s idea of a hero is someone who manages to stay awake through a double period of history. In other words, someone who ...

Re: "Perfect" Novels

I think there has been only one perfect book (in my opinion): Marcus Zsuzak's THE BOOK THEIF How he was able to work the narration, and the dry humor, and pack SUCH an emotional punch? The book is hands down, amazing. And to me, perfect. I agree too :D But I've never been able to bring myself to re...

Re: why love story doesn't always equal romance novel

That's a really great article!

It brings to mind a quote from 500 Days of Summer: "This is not a love story. This is a story about love." Not sure if that fits though :D

Re: How many Characters do you have?

Mine's a MG :)

1 main character
2 sidekicks
And then about 7 other named characters. I'd probably lose track if I had too many, and start calling Bob Bert or something

Re: The Coffee Shop - AUGUST

The silly movie was called LOL with Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore. I thought it would be a cutsy teen movie, but then it went and surprised me and ended up being really, really, really enjoyable. I didn't even multi-task while watching it. Some of the characters were ridiculous, but there were parts I...

Re: What are you reading now?

"Lord of the Rings." I read it once before, but not the whole thing. I stopped "the return of the king" when the volcano blew up (and I can't remember why.) This time I'm determined to read all of it. I just finished "the fellowship of the ring" :D
