Re: Writer's Block

I got to meet Bernard Cornwell once.

On the subject of writer's block, he counters by asking if a dentist ever gets dentist's block.

Re: Confession time

Well, I never wear pajamas, but rather than put that ugly image in your head, let me clarify that I write at night, before bed, at the end of my day. So by then I have changed to what I call loungewear. Sweats in winter, light flannel pants in summer.

You get the idea.

Re: Editing - Hardcopy or computer?

You know, if it wasn't for a computer and a word processing program, I never would have gotten this book written. I can't imagine what it would have been like to type it out and then make all of the changes the manuscript has been through. Still, I stink at editing on the screen. I have to print it ...

Re: Injuries from writing?

A broken heart and a badly bruised ego. I'm told that time will heal both afflictions but some days I'm not so sure.

Re: Ask Nathan

Hi Nathan, Thank you for this forum; it has really been a life saver. Just a quick question: Roughly, how many people besides the author should edit the manuscript, and of those, how many of them should the author take advice from? The reason I ask is because after having several people edit my man...

Re: Do you write the same genre you read?

I write historical fiction and I read (a lot of) historical fiction, but I don't read anything from the era of my WIP. I also find myself reading history and biographies as they come to hand. They provide nice springboards since you never know what little factoid will send you on a fun search for mo...

Re: Naming Characters

I sometimes use the names found in my junk email for modern era writing. It is a convenient random name generator.
