Re: Your first Pargraph!
Here's the first paragraph of my WIP A Devil Within: On December 2, 2010, a Thursday morning, 47-year old Juliet Hill drove to Santa Monica, California for a ten o’clock appointment with her obstetrician-gynecologist Marcia Kulkanis, M.D. Juliet had been suffering with diarrhea and nausea for two w...

Re: Do you have a new blog post?
Why, yes I do. Part Four of my series, The Life of a Chapter , in which I take you through the conceptualization and revisions of a single chapter from my WIP A Devil Within . And if you live in Los Angeles and are a geek and like robots, I have a cool place to send you. Hop on over to http://www.wr...

Re: Belief: Reading makes you smarter
I think it enhances your intelligence. I find that when I've been actively reading, I'm better at crosswords, for example. I'm also able to express myself more clearly, in both written and verbal forms. Plus, you get to visit all types of places, meet different people, learn about random things when...

If I will actually get lock-jaw if I eat or drink something that came from an opened refrigerated can. Still too scared to try...

Re: Forum game: Random facts about you
I was on The Weakest Link.
I've been kissed my Muhammad Ali.
I prefer to lick the cheese off the nacho-cheese Doritos rather than eat the entire chip.
I still, to this day, won't stay in a dark bathroom because I fear spontaneously saying 'Bloody Mary' three times.

Re: Writer's Block: Ignore It?
Step away from what you're working on. Then, turn your attention to these ten things: 1. The dishes in the sink. 2. The laundry growing up the walls in your bedroom. 3. The cat box. 4. The receipts and tax documents that are spilling out of your drawers that need to be itemized for your accountant b...

The Boys from Brazil by Ira Levin. And I think I'll stay in that mode and move to Rosemary's Baby and then The Stepford Wives.

Re: Impatience.
I am also impatient. So much so that I rush through edits sometimes just so I can be done with them. Over the last year or so, I've improved on this. Taken lots of deep breaths. Lots. And because my PS is a slow reader and because I am impatient, I read my draft to him. A few chapters every night. I...

Re: What are you reading now?
I'm now reading The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly. I like it so far -- kinda reminds me of Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell...

Re: How Do You Read?
It depends on that time of month. Meaning: If it's that time when I'm not actively working on a story myself, I totally lose myself as a reader. The book can be total junk and I will read and flip pages and not care if the writing is clunky and the characters are cliched and wow, what else has this ...

Re: The Misery of Being Published....
Ah, the misery of being published. I'm a little late to the party but I'd still like to comment. I, too, was published by a big house but only sold ~10,000. Not enough books sold. But that wasn't the miserable part. The miserable part is when people keep asking you 'When are you gonna publish again?...
