Re: All that paper...

Kinkos is now FedEx Office. They have full service printing and a range of other services, like online POD book manufacturing comparable to Lulu and CreateSpace. A writer without a printer nor a nearby office services business can upload a print job to the FedEx Office site and have it delivered pr...

Re: All that paper...

Great topic! I was actually thinking about this the other day... I'm planning on doing a round of edits on the computer before a major print off, but I have a question for you guys, too. Do you usually print it off yourself? Or do you print it somewhere else? (like...Kinkos or whatever; they do that...

Re: Does anyone ever lose that spark?

Though that can be worrying on occasion... Yeah, very true. This is just a me thing, but it depends on how much I've put into the draft. If I "cheat" or "find the spark" in something else when I've only written 10,000ish words of the WIP, then I'm okay with it. That's not to say...

Re: Does anyone ever lose that spark?

Well this thread has certainly took some turns! I haven't checked up on it until now, and things are definitely looking better on my end of the "losing the spark" issue. I've used a lot of that advice. Lots of cool stuff about subplots and re-enchantment and skil-saws while girl watching, ...

Re: Does anyone ever lose that spark?

Great comments, guys! Thanks so much; I'm not alone in this! sierramcconnell, LOVE the rocky theory. Makes sense. I think I'm going to keep trying with this (and the other) for a little longer, and I hope I'll be able to gain that spark back and *burn* through the first draft! Oh, puns. Thanks again...

Re: Is it a bad thing to not be serious?

I find myself doing that too. There are too many times where the perfect sarcastic or smart-ass line will pop into my head at a time of nothing or complete seriousness in my MS. So when do I put them in and when do I keep them to myself? If the scene is becoming too serious (more than I'd intended) ...

Does anyone ever lose that spark?

When I get that first idea, or spark, of a story...I'm in love. Who isn't? But lately, I've been continuing with this story and I'm just not feeling it. I still love the idea, but I don't know if I can really write it. I'm pushing through and I'm not hating it, I'm just frustrated I don't feel that ...

Re: Why can't I do this?

Gah, I'd been having that problem for a LONG time too. You are not alone :) But now, I've finally got one I'm happy with. So here's some advice from someone who had no clue what they were doing and thought they could whip out a letter in one sitting (aka, me) (and I was wrong about that lol): Write ...

Re: How many books do you read per week (or month)?

Usually I read about two books a month, sometimes three. But if school gets in the way, my reading time suffers :( My WIP is pretty steady throughout. I wish I could easily knockout four books a month, my to-be-read pile is growing way too fast.

Re: Ever Get Completely Blown Away By Edits

I'm in the exact same boat. I just got back some critique/comments on my WIP and man, I've got some plot holes to fix. But I did know about them (and kind of skipped over them...) figuring I'd come back around. Well, now it's that time. This is how I plan to tackle them: Go through and change the si...

Ok...I posted a reply but it didn't show up. I hope this one works? How does this version look? Just an fyi this one would be my one page synopsis. Anna’s sixteenth birthday should have been a time celebrating her transition into adulthood; instead it marks the brutal murder of her family members. W...

Haha, love this. Procrastination rocks.

Usually:
-Facebook (duh)
-Google
-Twitter (sometimes)
-Yahoo Mail
-iTunes

Not too distracting, but there if I need a break :)

Re: First, second and third person p.o.v

A. First Person: I definitely use this the most. I think it's because I'm obsessed with the main character's voice. It's what I love the most when I'm reading a book, so I always want mine to be fresh and distinct. I also have the most fun with first person because it gives you complete insight to y...
