Have you considered taking a month away from it? Just move on to something else. Or spend one entire month reading nothing but YA or MG (you have to pick on genre to focus on).

Word counts... As a NaNoWriMo participant, I was obsessed with hitting that 50K mark, but quickly realized that most of my 50K written at the time was crap. I'll third The Handmaid's Tale- excellent book. And yes, most dystopian novels make me depressed after reading, but isn't that the draw? Isn't that supposed to be the goal of any book?
