Re: How old are you?

Nathan, a specific question for you:

Did you have a desire to write fiction before you became a literary agent, or did working with authors give you that passion?

Thanks for these boards, it's great to find such a community of others with the Am-I-Crazies! :)

I don't know for sure, but I would think that you should send the revised version. Just make sure to note in your cover letter/email that you have revised it since sending the partial.

How old are you?

I think I just heard a collective gasp of shock from many, many women around the world. As a woman myself I can barely believe I've asked the question. But I've noticed many of us have mentioned our ages in one post or another...so it should be okay, right? This is a two-part question: how old are y...

Re: Daily Darling

"Weeks had passed. The cornfield lay bare except for a single stalk, yellowed and brittle in death. A thin layer of frost covered the earth around it. Windrunner stood before the stalk as he had stood before the first. His lean, hardened muscles held his sword confidently, the blade steady in h...

Re: the start of my story is 3,000 words in.

i just started edits on my novel, and I had the exact same problem. Well-written, great set-up, but the story really started in chapter 2. It was even 3,000 words for me, too, believe it or not. It was one of the hardest things but I cut those 3,000 words out completely. I struggled with it a lot bu...

Re: The Introduction Thread

Hey there y'all!! No, I'm not from the South. I'm actually from Tucson, Arizona (while you guys are drowning in snow it's around 70 and the sun is shining), and I really do say "y'all". And strangely enough, like Mia, I am addicted to tea and randomly quote Shakespeare. I've always wanted ...

Re: What are you writing now?

I'm a fantasy girl, through-and-through. I read it, I write it. Where I seem to differ is that I don't write for young audiences (much to my mother-in-law's chagrin). I write more like Dennis McKiernan and Terry Goodkind - epic fantasy that isn't pasteurized to be safe for teens. I strive for truth ...

Re: On Combat

Thank you, Serzen! In my WIP my protaganist uses a staff and I've been researching like mad to find the proper techniques for staff fighting (which, by the way, are really difficult to find). These quick lessons are so helpful! Do you have any experience with or against a staff? Anything I should ke...

Re: What author would you have dinner with/what would you ask?

R.A. Salvatore. For one, he is by far my favorite author. I just cannot get enough of his books. But also, I have yet to find an author who can create such compelling characters and tell a story better than he can. I've caught him breaking several "rules" that are taught to aspiring author...
